特定のイオンまたは分子だけを

通過させる様に

専門化して居る事。

There are many types

 of transporter molecules,

 but what they all have

 in common is that they are

 (1)

 proteins incorporated

 into membranes,

 (2)

 each transporter is specialized

 to allow only specific ions or molecules

 to pass through.
