〇「罪悪感」を持つ必要はありません

　私の母校は四日市高校です。今は１学年に３００人ほどの定員で、旧帝に合格できるのは上位の６０番くらいまで。つまり、上位の２割ほど。学校の先生は中間層に向けて授業をしないと、多数派から文句が出るので上位と下位は無視して授業を進める。

　だから、本気で東大・京大・阪大・名大・国立大医学部をめざす子は内職をするしかない。友達に「つきあう」わけにはいかない。日本社会は、そういう生徒を「イヤな奴」と陰口をきく社会なので上位の子の中には内職をしたり、意味のない「つきあい」を断ることに罪悪感を持つ子もいる。

　罪悪感など持つ必要はありません。自分の人生は、教師のためでも友人のためのものでもありません。自分のためのものなんですから。

　My alma mater is Yokkaichi High School. Now, with a capacity of about 300 students per grade, only the top 60 or so can be accepted into the old Imperial University. In other words, about 20% of the top students. If the school teachers do not teach classes for the middle class, the majority complains, so they ignore the top and bottom students and proceed with the classes.

　Therefore, children who seriously aim to enter Tokyo University, Kyoto University, Osaka University, Nagoya University, or a national university's medical school have no choice but to work inside the school. They cannot "keep up" with their friends. Some of the top-ranked students may feel guilty about doing in-house work or refusing to "socialize" with their friends, which is meaningless.

　There is no need to feel guilty. Your life is not for your teachers or your friends. It is for yourself.
